The protagonists of LEGENDS OF WARSAW inhabit a reality in which historical places, events and figures intermingle with literary interpretations of folk fantasy.

The volume comprises stories about the city`s foudation, about a origin of its name and crest, its ancient kings, courtiers and knights, and about supernatural phenomena representing the forces of both good and evil. In this world, a Mazovian prince is guided through the wilderness on the banks of the Vistula by a Water

Sprite, an ordinary child defeats the malevolent Basilisk that hides in an Old Town basement, while famous Warsaw statues and monuments come alive for a moment and, to console the king after his beloved wife`spassing, the noblemen of his court call one the services of a witch or a sorcerer.

LEGENDS OF WARSAW will come into its own as you explore the city, equipped with a literary guidebook to the shadows and traces of the past, and also as a souvenir that will allow you to return to places you once visited and meet the heroes who inhabited them.
